Student run volunteer program
The St. Sava church-school- congregation is wanting to form a student-run church volunteer program in which high school or u iversity students from our community can come together to engage in volunteer work and serve our community. The program will be organized and run by the students themselves, with the support and guidance of our church leaders and adult volunteers.
The purpose of a student-run church volunteer program is to provide young people with opportunities to grow in their faith, develop leadership skills and make a positive impact in their community. Through various types of volunteering, students will be able to put their faith into action, help our congregation, learn valuable lessons about teamwork, responsibility, community service and earn the volunteer hours.
A student-run church volunteer program can take many different forms, depending on the needs and resources of our church and community.
In B.C., high school students are required to have 30 hours of volunteer work to graduate and our student-run church volunteer program would meet these requirements as the volunteer activities will be picked, pre planned and performed outside of school hours.
In order to ensure the success of a student-run church volunteer program, it is important to have strong leadership and organization. We are looking for a group of 4 students to take on the project of developing the student run volunteer program for our church of St. Sava and the Serbian community in the province of British Columbia.
We look forward to receiving your interest in developing and joining this student volunteer program.
